How to Increase Your Gas Mileage

Are you struggling with poor gas mileage or you just want to maximize your MPG? Here's a few tips on maximizing every drop of gas.

Braking and Accelerating: Nothing is more taxing on your gas bill than excessive braking and acceleration. Steady is the name of the game. If you want to save money, don't drive like it's a race. Only break when needed and do it gradually. Also, avoid sudden accelerations that eat up gas.

Wind Resistance: This isn't as big of an issue in the winter time but having an open window or sunroof can create drag and lower your MPG. Keep your windows up to increase your savings.

Less Run Time: Are you one of those drivers who warms their car up for 5-10 minutes before work? This practice, while great for keeping you warm, wastes gas. Try and decrease the amount of time your car warms up.

Lighten the Load: Do you drive around with a full car or truck filled with heavy things? Clean out those heavy things to decrease weight.

Check Your Tires: An underinflated tire can produce more drag against the road surface and increase the amount of gasoline you use. Other maintenance to consider is tuning up your engine, changing filters, and having your wheels aligned.
